Accounts Payable Specialist

We are looking for a wonderful Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team based in Danbury, Connecticut. In this role, you will be handling accounts payable and payroll for a small team, processing a moderate volume of invoices, and manually issuing checks.
You will be replacing a retiring team member and will be cross-trained for this position.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the accounts payable function, ensuring all financial transactions are properly recorded
- Process payroll for a team of 30, ensuring that all payments are made in a timely and accurate manner
- Manually issue checks as needed, demonstrating attention to detail in all financial transactions
- Handle a weekly volume of 50-100 invoices, maintaining an organized record of all transactions
- Adapt to the use of older and smaller systems for financial management
- Work in a small office environment, collaborating closely with a team of three
- Undertake cross-training from the outgoing team member, ensuring a smooth transition of responsibilities
- Utilize skills in Accounts Payable (AP), Auditing, Chicago Manual of Style, and Payroll for efficient operation
- Perform other related duties as assigned including taking orders from incoming client calls
- Must hold a minimum of 2 years of experience in Accounts Payable or a similar role
- Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) is essential
- Familiarity with manual AP and check processing is essential
- Previous experience working with Payroll is beneficial
- Strong communication and organizational skills are necessary
- Must have the ability to accurately process and record a large volume of numerical data
- Excellent attention to detail is required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Must have a strong ethical stance towards the confidentiality of financial information
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team is necessary
- Must have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
