Overview:
The Senior Manager of Legal Assistants oversees the operations and management of a team of legal assistants within a law firm or legal department. This role is critical in ensuring that the legal assistants deliver high-quality support to attorneys, contributing to the overall efficiency and success of the legal team.The Senior Manager of Legal Assistants will be responsible for recruiting, training, and supervising legal assistants, as well as developing and implementing policies and procedures to enhance productivity and compliance.
Responsibilities:
Team Management- Supervision: Oversee the daily activities of legal assistants, providing guidance and support to ensure tasks are completed accurately and timely.
- Recruitment: Manage the hiring process for new legal assistants, including interviewing, selecting, and onboarding new team members.
- Training: Develop and implement training programs to ensure legal assistants are well-versed in legal procedures, office protocols, and relevant technology.
- Performance Evaluation: Conduct regular performance reviews, offering constructive feedback and identifying opportunities for professional development.
- Conflict Resolution: Address any interpersonal conflicts or performance issues within the team swiftly and fairly.
- Workflow Coordination: Assign tasks and manage workloads to ensure that all legal assistant duties are performed efficiently and deadlines are met.
- Policy Development: Establish and refine policies and procedures to improve the workflow and productivity of the legal assistant team.
- Resource Allocation: Ensure that legal assistants have the necessary resources, including technology and training, to perform their duties effectively.
- Compliance: Ensure that all activities of the legal assistant team comply with legal regulations and firm policies.
- Attorney Assistance: Provide high-level support to attorneys by coordinating legal documentation, managing schedules, and facilitating communication with clients.
- Client Interaction: Serve as a point of contact for clients, ensuring their inquiries are handled promptly and professionally.
- Document Management: Oversee the preparation, review, and management of legal documents, ensuring accuracy and adherence to legal standards.
- Research: Conduct legal research and gather information to support attorneys in case preparation and strategy.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience- Education: A bachelor’s degree in law, business administration, or a related field is required. A master’s degree or Juris Doctor (JD) is preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a legal environment, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Bilingual: English/Spanish
- Leadership: Strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team of legal assistants.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with attorneys, clients, and team members.
- Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on finding efficient and effective solutions.
- Technological Proficiency: Proficiency in legal research tools, document management systems, and office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
