The Assistant Vocational Rehab Mailroom Clerk is responsible for processing all incoming and outgoing US Mail, and the distribution of interdepartmental mail, and mail for doctors on a daily basis. Attends other stations in Mail Room, as assigned, in support of overall department function.

Responsibilities:

A day in the life of a Assistant Vocational Rehab Mailroom Clerk includes:

  • Accurately sorts and delivers doctors mail every day. Sorts daily incoming US Mail and interdepartmental mail to the correct department in sufficient time to ensure mail is delivered no later than 24 hours after receipt. Sorts and delivers doctors mail daily. Files patient results in sufficient time to be processed and mailed to doctors. Delivers all patient addressed mail to Information Desk. Review discharged patients list and obtain home addresses. Forward mail to patient's home or other designated address. Stage all completed US Mail for pick up by or delivery to the US Postal service according to schedule Weigh oversized mail and apply postage meter tapes. Will assist in the training of Voc Rehab and Volunteer staff.
  • Operate copy equipment reproducing print jobs in the most cost effective manner. Communicate with requestor and make recommendations if there is a more cost effective way to produce the job. Label each completed job and stage for delivery to or pick up by ordering departments. Prioritize jobs by date needed, paper size and setup. Answer customer inquiries for order completion status accurately in person and on the telephone.
  • Record all certified mail received by number and addressee; obtain signature. Maintain accurate mail processing records. Generate daily activity reports. Notify supervisor when funds are required for the mail machine. Clean and maintain all equipment on a regular basis to minimize downtime. Contact vendor when outside service is required to repair equipment.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
  • Minimum 1 year experience.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Must be able to use hand truck and mail cart.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Mail Room or shipping experience.
  • Basic knowledge of USPS requirements and the operation of mailing machines.
