Emergency Medicine - Advanced Practice Provider
Overview:
Carle Health is seeking an additional Advanced Practice Provider to join our Emergency Department at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.
Responsibilities: Accommodates patient needs and demands for patient care delivery based on patient health status.
Administers treatment under physician orders or in conformity with usual practice and practice guidelines.
Assesses patient's medical/surgical conditions
Consults ED physicians when extensive evaluation, procedures, operations, sub-specialist consultation, hospital admission, or continuing treatments are required, or any time diagnosis or case management is unclear.Documents patient care appropriately, so as to allow accurate coding and billing of patients.
Performs and facilitates efficient and safe healthcare practices.
Performs initial history and physical examinations on assigned patients
Assess, diagnose, develop treatment plan, implement treatment plan, and perform follow up and evaluation using scientific process and national standards of care Prescriptive authority as delegated by the collaborating/supervising physician consisting of prescription of, selection of, orders for, administration of, storage of, and dispensing over the counter medications, legend drugs, medical gases, and controlled substances categorized as any Schedule II through V controlled substances,(schedule II requires separate application collaborative physician signature to that application) Utilize consultation to medical patients, doctors, nurses and other health care professionals to improve clinical care Ordering diagnostic and therapeutic tests and procedures, performing those tests and procedures when using health care equipment, and interpreting and using the results of diagnostic and therapeutic tests and procedures Evaluate and treat common orthopedic complaints - reduce simple dislocations such as fingers/toes, apply /remove splints after appropriate consultation if needed Perform procedures: ID, Arthrocentesis, Nosebleed management, Foreign body removal, Lumbar puncture, Tonometry, Suture / wound care, immobilization techniques, and others performed under the scope of institution privileges
Qualifications:License/Certifications: Certified Physician Assistant
- National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA); Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days
- American Heart Association (AHA); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year
- American Heart Association (AHA); Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 1 year
- American Heart Association (AHA); Licensed Physician Assistant (PA)
- Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
College Diploma: Physician Assistant (Required)
