Overview:

Job Summary

The Templer is the process of scoring the meat from the temple area of the head. The Templer will use a knife to mark around the temple to remove the meat from the head for it to be removed with the jawbone.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use knife to cut temple meat out.
  • Stamp tongue with a U stamp for under 30 months.
  • Use scanner to scan tag for: Black tags, under 30, and contaminated.
  • Place bag over the head that USDA has stamped out.
  • Rinse knife and hand, steel knife, then place knife in sterilizer after each carcass.
  • Remove the second knife from sterilizer and begin procedure on next.
  • NOTE: this description is not intended to be all inclusive. An employee may perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization; these duties are considered marginal.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must be able to work in a humid, hot, wet, slippery, or at varied heights in and around moving equipment and parts with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience/knowledge of manufacturing environment.
  • Previous heavy machinery experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Previous agriculture production/ beef plant experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Be attentive to detail.
  • Ability to work safely, wear PPE, and follow instructions.
  • Ability to attend work consistently.
  • Always be aware of your surroundings.
  • Follow all safety, food safety, and Sanitary dress procedures.
  • Able to stand for lengthy periods of time.
  • Display strong work ethic.
