Position Summary:

The Director of Grid Operations and Modernization will play a key role in transforming GrandBridge Energy’s grid infrastructure, overseeing the System Control Centre, Transformer Stations, Grid Control Systems (SCADA, ADMS, DERMS), Grid Automation, Metering and Distributed Energy Resources (DERs).

This position is central to driving reliability improvements, managing outages, and ensuring safe, reliable electricity delivery to our customers.

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the 24/7 Grid Control Centre, ensuring efficient management and timely outage response.
  • Manage critical grid control systems (SCADA, ADMS, OMS, FLISR) and integrate automation technologies.
  • Develop programs to measure and improve outage reliability, working with cross-functional teams.
  • Lead projects for new transformer stations and infrastructure to support grid expansion.
  • Grid Edge Systems: Execute grid edge systems, including AMI 2.0, to position us as a leader in the energy space.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, introducing new processes and technologies.
  • Prepare and manage capital and operating budgets, ensuring cost-control and financial performance.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory and safety requirements, leading audits and compliance documentation.
  • Mentor and develop a diverse team, fostering an inclusive and high-performing culture.
  • Work with executive leadership and regulatory bodies to align grid operations with strategic objectives.

What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation with Professional Engineers of Ontario is required. PMP certification and MBA are assets.
  • Minimum of ten years in project management, with a preference for utility infrastructure, grid modernization, or energy transition projects. Proven leadership in overseeing large-scale, high-priority projects in the power sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of project management methodologies and tools, with a track record of delivering large, complex infrastructure projects involving advanced technologies like automation, SCADA, and AMI systems.
  • Strong understanding of Ontario’s electricity landscape, market rules, policies, and regulations, with experience in emerging technologies and energy transition initiatives.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical abilities to assess project challenges, anticipate risks, and develop effective solutions.
  • Expertise in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
  • Ability to thrive in high-pressure environments, manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines.
