HIPAA Compliance Specialist (Contract) Location: Raleigh, NC (Remote Flexibility)
We are seeking an experienced HIPAA Compliance Specialist to join our team on a contract basis. This role is vital to ensuring our organization maintains full compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations.The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare compliance, risk assessment, and auditing, with expertise in cloud-based applications and security practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive HIPAA compliance assessments, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance controls are effectively implemented.
- Provide training and guidance on HIPAA requirements and industry best practices.
- Develop and maintain detailed compliance documentation.
- Monitor and manage risks associated with HIPAA regulations through audits and security assessments.
- Maintain accurate records of compliance activities, audits, and corrective measures. Utilize expertise in privacy laws, healthcare compliance, and cloud technologies to uphold regulatory adherence.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in HIPAA compliance, risk assessment, or healthcare regulatory roles.
- In-depth knowledge of HIPAA Privacy, Security, and Breach Notification Rules.
- Proven experience conducting HIPAA audits and risk assessments.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in documentation and record-keeping for compliance tracking.
- Experience working with cloud-based applications and security best practices.
- Familiarity with healthcare laws, regulations, and compliance frameworks.
- Knowledge of risk assessment methodologies and ability to implement corrective actions.
- Strong ability to work cross-functionally with internal teams to promote a culture of compliance.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with ‘About Time’ software (desirable).
- Knowledge of HealthCare.gov policies and procedures.
- Understanding of health insurance regulations and billing processes.
- Security awareness and ability to implement best practices in data protection.
