Diesel Mechanic

Overview:

Coastal Waste & Recycling is privately-owned, locally-operated solid waste disposal and recycling company. We are experiencing explosive growth and with growth comes opportunity. We are currently adding Diesel Technicians to our team to support the growth.

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to work under limited supervision and establish procedures to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Perform repairs, inspections, and diagnosis.
  • Repair electrical, hydraulic, transmissions, suspension and air brake systems on vehicles and heavy equipment.
  • Utilize vehicle computer electronics systems to determine failure modes.
  • Complete required documentation associated with repairing vehicles and parts usage.
  • Perform welding, hard facing and fabricating using steel and aluminum welding equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with OSHA Standards and company policies.
  • Develop fellow technicians’ performance by training when assigned.

Qualifications:

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift and move 50 to 75 pounds.
  • Extended periods of standing
  • Extended periods of walking

Travel Required:

  • Periodically for training or repairs when necessary

Required Education and Experience:

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Experience using oxygen/acetylene equipment, precision measurement instruments, and diesel specification.
  • Medium/Heavy Truck Master ASE Certification
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must have their own tools.

Preferred Experience:

  • Brake Certification
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s license
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
