  • Experience credit applied in addition to base pay capping out at $19.32 per hour
  • $1,560 annual increase for Master degree
  • Overtime payment at 1.5x your hourly rate

The Glenhome School & Transition Program

For over 50 years -- The Glenholme School, part of Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health, has provided a comprehensive residential program and services for children with learning differences and special needs. Located in picturesque Washington, CT the Medical Assistant will be part of a cohesive, passionate and dynamic team.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

We are seeking a Medical Assistant who has experience with the student population and is passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with learning differences and mental health/behavioral challenges. If this describes you, then look no further!

  • Perform routine clinical tasks to support medical staff, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, and assisting with procedures.
  • Count and manage medications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Place doctor’s orders and manage communications with healthcare providers.
  • Work independently to manage clinical and administrative tasks efficiently.
  • Perform triage to assess the urgency of patient needs and provide appropriate care or referrals.
  • Update and maintain electronic Medication Administration Records (eMAR) accurately and promptly.
  • Request and obtain consent from parents for any medication changes or updates.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Complete paid DCF medication certification within 3 months of hire.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising physician or nurse.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • CNA or LPN certification preferred but not necessary.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to healthcare.

Certification Requirements:

  • Must complete DCF medication within 3 months of hire (paid by Devereux)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity and coordination to perform clinical tasks.
