The Mechanical Engineering department of #CAES has a career growth opportunity for an experienced Senior Reliability Engineer at our sprawling suburban Philadelphia location (Lansdale, PA). Our Design Engineering team consists of 150+ design engineers across 5 sites throughout the Eastern United States.

This role reports to the Mechanical Engineering Manager. The ideal candidate is someone with a strong electronics background and experience to apply a broad knowledge and wide application of both Reliability and Component Engineering principles and concepts to CAES products.

Specific principles and concepts include reliability and maintainability predictions, product screening and growth testing, and component evaluation, selection and documentation. The ideal candidate would have experience working across functions in a matrix organization to achieve operational results.

Responsibilities:

  1. Performs professional technical assignments requiring the full use and wide application of established Reliability Engineering principles, theories, concepts and precedents. Makes independent technical decisions regarding product reliability, maintainability and safety.
  2. Provides technical assistance to Engineering and Operations by analyzing specifications and designs and advising on their ability to meet reliability requirements. Analyzes electrical, electronic and electro-mechanical (EEE) components for performance, environmental and reliability requirements compliance. Provides guidance to designers in the selection and application of component parts.
  3. Participates in preparation of proposals and presentations at design/program reviews for both Reliability Engineering and Component Engineering subject matter.
  4. Monitors, identifies and resolves component issues throughout the product lifecycle, supporting design engineers during product development and manufacture. Provide support to Engineering and Supply Chain during design and production to assure proper program performance.
  5. Reviews complex bills of material to identify and resolve critical and high-risk component and material issues associated with obsolescence and availability. Investigates and identifies recommended component replacements for Engineering and Supply Chain.
  6. Coordinates with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Operations to evaluate and resolve component-related manufacturing issues and initiate documented engineering change requests.
  7. Participates in preparing assignments in terms of engineering tasks, objectives or plans; has considerable freedom of action in the execution of planned assignment and reports progress in relation to approved plans at specified intervals. May lead projects or segments of major projects; may coordinate and direct the work efforts of lower-level engineers and support personnel.
  8. Contributes to a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and accountability within engineering and with the other functions such as program management, operations and supply chain.
  9. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Five (5) years of experience in Reliability and Component Engineering
  • Knowledge of Reliability, Maintainability and Testability Engineering design practices.
  • Experience conducting Reliability efforts and testing and verification to include experience with performing reliability predictions, FMECA (failure mode, effects, and criticality analysis), and fault tree analysis.
  • Experience with reliability FRACAS (failure reporting, analysis, and corrective action system) and data mining.
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a “US Person” under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's Degree in Engineering or related Scientific field
  • Eight (8) years of experience in Reliability and Component Engineering
  • Maintainability and Testability/Built-In-Test (BIT) engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of EEE components, manufacturers, and use of manufacturer/industry databases and tools (e.g., Accuris BOM Management and Silicon Expert).
  • Ability to interpret component data sheets and evaluate components for various product applications, performing analytical evaluation as well as devising, performing and reporting results of functional tests.
  • Knowledge and experience with statistical concepts and analysis.
  • Ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings/schematics.
  • Ability to communicate findings to customers and management.
  • Analytical thinker with a demonstrated ability of solving complex problems which require ingenuity and innovation.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to interface with key internal and external customers
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Background in the defense industry
  • Active DOD Security Clearance

Salary Range: Reliability Engineer (level III): $93,495.00 - $115,494.00 annually, or Reliability Engineer (level IV): $123,648.00 - $152,741.00 annually. Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
