Rapiscan, an OSI Systems Company is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer, based out of Billerica, MA.

The manufacturing engineer position develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards; recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls; coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products.

In addition, his role works closely with Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and Quality to identify and alleviate obstacles impacting Production. You will use and grow your technical skills, you will define and implement process improvements, you will generate and improve product documentation, develop fixtures, work with suppliers, and work on cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Reduce obstacles affecting Production’s ability to maintain schedules.
  • Take full ‘cradle to grave’ ownership for tasks assigned, for defects (Non-Conformances) found in Mfg. and Test and for any projects assigned.
  • Understand the requirements and process to effectively transition design changes, new designs, or deviations into production.
  • Initiate ECRs (Engineering Change Requests), drive and review resulting ECO’s as required to ensure design changes are effectively identified, integrated, and properly documented.
  • Ability to understand key deliverables and demonstrated ability to manage multiple task/efforts at any given time.
  • Represent Manufacturing on cross-functional project teams as needed.
  • Assists in the manufacturing launch of new/revised products.
  • Create/Improve designs and supporting documentation for production in collaboration with Engineering when required.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, manage, and report on task and project progress.
  • Improve manufacturing processes by identifying and initiating process improvements for quality and efficiency.
  • Manage manufacturing related projects and coordinate activities with various internal and external suppliers.
  • Designs, develops and tests and/or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods as needed.
  • Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
  • Reduce defects and cycle times.
  • Advocate for, and ensure results and solutions achieve required quality levels, reliability, and consistency.

Qualifications:

  • BS in engineering discipline (Preferably Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing) or equivalent yeras of experience with 5-10+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience implementing DFM/DFA/DFT during NPD/NPI processes
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks 2D and 3D solid modeling
  • Fundamental knowledge of mechanical and electrical manufacturing processes, including assembly and testing
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, work independently, and across functional groups to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Effective communication and collaborative skills.
  • Proven decision-making skills.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (are a Plus!):

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification
  • Experience with Agile and Microsoft D365
  • Experience with Sequence Manufacturing Work Instructions
  • AutoCAD
  • Experience with PFMEA and DFMEA
  • Knowledge of GD&T
  • Experience with and/or exposure to ISO 9001 and 14001
