Fertilizer Production Specialist
Overview:
This position is responsible for leading production and inventory control at the Company's fertilizer plant in Hanford, CA. In addition to ensuring production runs efficiently with a focus on quality, this role will interface with drivers at the facility and customers in the field.
The salary range for this position is $20.00 to $27.00 per hour, dependent on experience. The Company offers insurance coverage that includes medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, a 401(k) with employer match, paid time off, and more.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all blending of liquid and dry materials
- Responsible for melting down dry materials into liquids
- Load/unload liquid ag products from commercial tanker delivery trucks and ensure proper storage and handling of products.
- Certify new drivers at facility
- Lead physical inventory counts.
- Maintenance of liquids and warehouse facilities to include any repairs needed on pumps and on other operational equipment as well as troubleshooting.
- Housekeeping: facility cleanliness and landscape.
- Assist facility management with safety walks and reporting.
- Occasional tank placement on the field for customers.
- Cleaning and repairing equipment at the facility.
- Operate material handling equipment including forklift, skid steer, pallet jack, and other equipment as required.
- Assist with recordkeeping related to warehouse/inventory responsibilities.
- Assist with dispatching duties when necessary.
- Miscellaneous duties such as assisting with special projects, attending training sessions, providing back-up when needed, etc.
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Minimum three to five (3-5) years' related experience.
- Forklift experience is required.
- Clean driving record and Class C license is required.
- Have a working understanding of different types of fertilizers.
- Possess a basic and fundamental knowledge of mechanical troubleshooting.
Skills:
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to interact positively with customers - excellent interpersonal skills between both customers and fellow employees.
- Highly self-motivated and self-accountable, requiring little supervision
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel)
- Forklift certified.
- Must be able to perform basic math calculations and understand conversion tables.
- Fluent in English and Spanish is a plus.
Physical Requirments:
- Tolerate extreme temperatures of up to 110 degrees during the summer months and cold wet days during the colder months
- Occasionally bend and lift boxes and bags up to 80 lbs.
- Regularly lift 50lbs multiple times throughout the day.
- Crouch and bend frequently.
- Fine finger dexterity.
- Ability to climb elevated platforms and staircases daily.
- Constant work on uneven surfaces.
- Ability to travel by vehicle or commercial transportation to other branches, meeting locations, and customer locations / farms.
Environment:
- Regularly exposed to outdoor/uncontrolled weather conditions.
- Regularly exposed to major amounts of dust.
- Regularly exposed to chemicals used in the manufacturing process.
