MHA is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant for a full-time position within our BestLife Clinic.
BestLife Emotional Health and Wellness Clinic’s Medical Assistant will help individuals by providing information, services, and assistance for all outpatient psychiatry services. Other duties include securing medical records, scheduling and rescheduling with the proper clinician, managing individual inquiries, and maintaining medical records in a timely fashion.Medical Assistants are cross trained to perform administrative and clinical duties. The Medical Assistant will be instrumental in helping individuals feel at ease in the prescriber’s office and often explain the prescriber's instructions. They will be fully responsible for the smooth day-to-day operations of outpatient psychiatry services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Fields all calls and inquiries from potential individuals, gathering preliminary information regarding reasons for visit and scheduling with the proper psychiatric provider.
- Verifies individual information by interviewing individual; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit.
- Prepares individuals for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting individual history summary.
- Coordinates with psychiatrist around office procedures.
- Secures individual information and maintains individual confidentiality by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; keeping individual information confidential.
- Counsels individuals by transmitting prescriber's orders and questions about refills, appointments and referrals.
- Schedules appointments and follow-up appointments; verifying times with individuals; preparing charts, pre-admission and consent forms.
- Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
- Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.
- Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
- Enhances practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Perform nursing procedures under supervision of prescriber or nurse practitioner. • Assist prescriber and nurse practitioners in exam rooms.
- Escort individuals to exam rooms, interviews individuals, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in individual’s chart.
- Give instructions to individuals as instructed by prescriber or prescriber assistant.
- Ensure all related reports, labs and information is filed and is available in individuals’ medical records prior to their appointment.
- Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to individual/prescriber/pharmacy calls.
- Triage and process messages from individuals and front office staff to prescribers and prescriber assistants.
- Maintain all logs and required checks.
- All other duties as assigned by administrator.

- Sending and collecting questionnaires from individuals.
- Taking and recording vitals- height, weight, blood pressure, and pulse
Schedule:
Mon-Fri 9a-5p (flexible to start as early as 8am and/or work as late as 7pm, Mon-Thurs)
