We are looking for an investment management associate, who’s eager to share a diversity of knowledge and technical expertise, to join our ranks. At Commonwealth, you will be working with premier financial advisors who have built very successful financial planning practices.As an Investment Management Associate, you will join a seasoned team of professionals that manage Commonwealth’s turn-key investment management solution, PPS Select. Members of the team oversee all aspects of investment research, security/asset selection, and trading for advisors who elect to partner with the program.
Your experience and knowledge will be used to help maintain our position as a solution of choice for advisors.
Key Responsibilities- Providing advanced technical and consultative support on a variety of topics to advisors, clients, and internal staff.
- Involvement in all aspects of investment strategy due diligence, including initial screening and ongoing monitoring of strategies and portfolios.
- Writing comprehensive manager specific and portfolio reports, summarizing findings, and making recommendations.
- Developing ways to monitor the market environment to better-position portfolios through strategic and/or tactical investment recommendations.
- Assisting with asset allocation, portfolio construction, case design, and consultation.
- Taking on responsibilities and projects across Investment Management and Research and the broader organization.
- Upholding Commonwealth’s legacy of providing indispensable service.
- Intellectually curious with a passion for investment research and due diligence
- Strong quantitative and qualitative skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize long-term and short-term projects effectively and meet deadlines
- Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
- Demonstrated ability to learn new concepts in investment management and research and applying those concepts in portfolios to the benefit of clients
- Ability to work as a member of a team while also working independently on individual projects
- Excellent research and problem-solving skills
- Ability to shift focus, as needed, while keeping strong attention to detail
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 1-3 years of experience in investment research or financial services
- Working knowledge and/or interest in using a variety of software packages (FactSet, Morningstar, Haver, and Bloomberg) to perform research on mutual funds, ETFs, separately managed accounts, and individual securities
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Working toward or interested in industry designations preferred (CFA, CFP, etc.)
