Become part of a rapidly growing, nationally recognized firm as a Fund Controller. In this role, you will engage in all aspects of asset management, gaining valuable CFO-level insights and hands-on experience across various types of real estate.

This hybrid position is based in San Francisco and offers more than just traditional responsibilities, providing you with the opportunity to enhance your analytical skills and advance your career in a dynamic, high-growth environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead monthly accounting processes, including the preparation of operating reports, budget variance analyses, and coordination with property management on accounting matters.
  • Support the development, review, and execution of annual operating budgets, business plans, and financial forecasts for the Fund and assigned properties.
  • Prepare detailed quarterly reports for investors and stakeholders, including comprehensive financial statements and analyses.
  • Oversee cash distribution processes and preferred return calculations for Fund and joint-venture investments.
  • Evaluate fund and property-level performance, assisting with financial projections and modeling.
  • Manage year-end audits and tax returns, coordinating with external auditors and tax preparers to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Calculate and manage cash distributions to investors, ensuring precise waterfall calculations.
  • Foster productive relationships with third-party property management teams.
  • Facilitate property acquisitions and dispositions, coordinating with various stakeholders throughout the process.
  • Contribute to enhancing best practices within the accounting team and support system optimization initiatives.
  • 7+ years of accounting or finance experience in the real estate investment industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, including fair value accounting, and familiarity with tax laws.
  • Experience with Yardi Voyager is an advantage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and collaborative approach.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
