Sustainability Program Manager - Technology

The role of Sustainability Program Manager at VHB presents an exciting opportunity for a passionate, dynamic and innovative leader to drive transformative change to integrate sustainability in our diverse service offerings. The Sustainability Program Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing sustainability programs that leverage technology across VHB's service offerings.

This pivotal role will be at the forefront of VHB's commitment to sustainable practices, leveraging technology to enhance our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sustainability, a deep understanding of emerging technologies in the field, and excellent project management skills. Your work will directly contribute to VHB's mission of creating more resilient and sustainable communities, positioning us as a leader in tech-enabled sustainability solutions in the planning and engineering industry.

This hire could work out of any VHB office and there is an option for remote within our VHB footprint.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development, implementation, and management of sustainability programs that leverage technology across VHB's service offerings
  • Develop strategies to integrate sustainability technologies
  • Support successful delivery of Tech Enabled projects across VHB
  • Collaborate with project teams to identify opportunities for incorporating sustainability tool and practices
  • Develop and manage internal and external sustainability projects
  • Create and maintain project schedules, budgets, and monitor project progress and ensure timely delivery of deliverables
  • Design and deliver comprehensive training programs on Sustainability Explorer for employees across all levels
  • Develop educational materials, including user guides, best practices, case studies and work closely with internal teams
  • Engage with external clients and partners to understand their sustainability needs and goals
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions on sustainability tools and practices and develop and implement strategies to continuously improve VHB's sustainability performance
  • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success of initiatives, create reports on progress and impact, analyze data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Represent VHB at industry events and contribute to thought leadership content, such as white papers and blog posts
Skills and Attributes
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
  • Excellent project management skills with a track record of successful program implementation
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Advanced skills managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent technical understanding of software and systems
  • Strong leadership and prioritization skills
  • Team oriented with ability to perform multiple tasks independently in a timely manner
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail oriented
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred
  • 8-10 years of project/program delivery experience and 5+ years of related technology management experience, with a recent focus in sustainability, all within the planning and engineering industry required
  • Strong understanding of sustainability tools and technologies relevant to the built environment required
  • Experience in developing and delivering training programs required
  • Proficiency in sustainability assessment tools and relevant software applications required
  • Experience working on public sector and government projects, including federal and state-level work preferred
  • LEED AP, ENV SP, or PMP certification is a plus
