We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Test Engineer with expertise in both laboratory and field testing. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with various data acquisition tools, including CAN systems, accelerometers, strain gauges, thermocouples, and wheel force transducers.Proficiency in data acquisition hardware, particularly Siemens, Somat and Dewesoft is essential. Familiarity with MTS servo-hydraulic test systems and controls is a plus.
In this role you will design, implement, and execute testing strategies to ensure quality and performance across concurrent test programs. You will also support other testing programs as a subject matter expert.

Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities include:
- Define Testing Needs: Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and outline specific testing needs and approaches.
- Develop Test Plans: Create detailed test plans that outline objectives, methodologies and success criteria.
- Execute Test Plans: Carry out testing according to established plans, ensuring thorough execution and adherence to protocols.
- Data Collection and Processing: Collect, process, and analyze data from various sensors, transducers, ensuring accuracy and integrity.
- Reporting: Write comprehensive reports that detail all aspects of the testing effort, including methodology, results and recommendations.
- Safety: Adhere to safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Provide guidance and support to junior engineers, helping them develop their technical skills and professional growth.
Daily activities include:
- Engage in projects that involve test design, instrumentation in a mixed sensor/transducer environment, and fixture development.
- Perform data collection and analysis, utilizing a variety of transducers such as strain gauges, pressure transducers, accelerometers, force transducers, and displacement transducers simultaneously, ensuring safe and effective operation.
- Manage data collection and signal conditioning using both proprietary systems and commercially available tools.
- Apply time domain and frequency domain analysis methods as needed to effectively interpret test results.
Project Management:
- Depending on experience, take the initiative in managing projects, including assigning tasks and supervising colleagues to ensure project goals are met efficiently and effectively.

Qualifications:
Required:
- M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Theoretical and Applied Mechanics or a closely related field, with a minimum of 10 years' experience in laboratory and/or field testing.
- Registered professional engineer (PE) or willingness to obtain licensure required.
- Mechanical Testing Expertise: Demonstrated proficiency in mechanical testing and data acquisition, with extensive experience in various testing methodologies.
- Project Management Skills: Strong organizational abilities with a proven track record of effectively managing multiple concurrent projects while meeting deadlines.
- Analytical Proficiency: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail for accurate interpretation of test results.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, enabling clear presentation of complex technical information to diverse audiences.
- Test Automation Knowledge: Proficient in test automation tools and frameworks, with hands-on experience in implementing automated testing solutions.
- Instrumentation Familiarity: Extensive experience with mechanical testing laboratory instrumentation and a solid understanding of calibration procedures.
- Engineering Principles: Strong grasp of engineering mechanics and physics to properly, enabling accurate interpretation and analysis of test data.
- Fixture Design and Validation: Hands-on capability to design, manufacture and validate test fixtures, ensuring they meet project specifications and requirements.
- Test Planning and Data Validation: Experience developing comprehensive test plans, evaluating and validating measured data to ensure reliable and accurate results.
- Fixture and Equipment Development: Ability to conceptualize and develop test fixtures and equipment, effectively interpreting the data generated.
- Leadership: Proven ability to mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and professional growth.
- Documentation Skills: Proficient in creating and documenting test cases and procedures, ensuring clarity and reproducibility.
- Technical Writing: Strong technical writing skills, with the capability to produce detailed reports and documentation.
- Motivation and Initiative: Highly motivated self-starter with a proactive approach to problem-solving and project execution.
Preferred:
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering or Theoretical and Applied Mechanics with 10+ years of laboratory and/or field test experience.
