Arboriculture Research Internship

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join the Research Lab (at the Bartlett Tree Research Laboratory in Charlotte, NC). We have 3-month summer internships (approx. May-August 2025) and 6-month internships (approx. May-October 2025). These internships are designed to challenge students to learn applicable skills and gain industry experience in the arboriculture field.As a Research Intern you will have the opportunity to participate in various experiences (tree climbing, plant problem diagnostics, plant health care, sales, etc.) as well as gain lab and field research skills.

Responsibilities:
As a Research Intern you will be expected to:
- Attend and participate in weekly Research planning meetings
- Assist the Research Team with data collection, trial implementation and maintenance of plots
- Be responsible for managing your time and projects according to deadlines
- Identify basic trees and woody plant material common to this area
- Learn, understand, and adhere to all safety rules and policies
Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate will be actively enrolled at a two or four-year University pursuing a degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Plant Science, Landscape Design, or a related field
- A positive attitude, willingness, and ability to participate within a multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to work independently when necessary
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient Microsoft Office skills (particularly Excel)
