- Pay range $21-31/hour.
Calibration Technician I is an entry-level position that requires either education in the electronics/calibration field or at least one (1) year of calibration experience. Calibration Technicians at this level typically can calibrate low-end process instrumentation in up to three (3) disciplines (e.g., Electrical, Dimensional or Pressure). Proficiency and expertise are determined in accordance with Transcat’s technician skills progression matrix.
Responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Work with other technicians within the lab to learn calibration fundamentals, which can include measurement, temperature, electronics, etc.
- Identify and utilize appropriate measurement techniques
- Maintain calibration standards
- Working knowledge and competency in at least three 3 disciplines (dimensional, electrical, torque, temperature, pressure, etc.)
- Perform calibration work within a laboratory setting and/or while supervised at a customer on-site
- Fulfill duties safely under working conditions, in keeping with Company requirements and standards
- Other duties as assigned
- Travel requirement: 25-50% of work schedule
- Learn fundamental calibration skills and techniques
- Develop skills necessary to perform calibrations independently
- Develop skills necessary to advance to Calibration Technician II position, which includes a working knowledge and competency in at least four (4) disciplines and expert competency in one (1) discipline
- Deliver on Transcat’s Quality Policy (QAC-F01-001)
Qualifications:
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Qualifications- Successful completion of assigned training materials through on-the-job training, online content, LMS, and classroom led instruction
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Self-motivated learner with the ability to learn new skills related to calibration and calibration processes
- Ability to take direction and learn from feedback
- Ability to communicate well with supervisor, solve problems effectively, and work both independently and as part of a team
- 3+ years driving experience with a valid driver's license and acceptable driver history
Education and Experience
Required: Associates degree from college or technical school; or at least one (1) year related experience and/or training. or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred:
- Previous experience or training in electronics or machining
- Basic mathematical skills including algebra, geometry, and statistics
- Familiarity with basic hand tools
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office computer software including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Organizational and time management skills
- Experience in PMEL, PME, TMDE, Metrology, Calibration, ASQ CCT, METCAL, GPETE, Electronics, GCAMS, or Avionics

Occasionally will be required to lift up to 75 lbs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock.The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
