Maintenance Technician - 1st Shift

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our high-performing operations team at a turnaround site. This role is essential for ensuring the safety, efficiency, and reliability of our chemical plant’s mechanical systems, including pumps, piping, and utility equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, repair, install, and maintain plant equipment, including:
  • Pumps (centrifugal, positive displacement, air diaphragm)
  • Vessels, heat exchangers, piping, valves, and motors
  • Agitators, boilers, hot oil heaters, air compressors, cooling towers, chillers, and blowers
  • Install and modify piping, equipment, and perform pump alignment.
  • Operate and maintain industrial tools, including hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) and complete daily work orders.
  • Inspect critical equipment, identify defects, and recommend proactive maintenance solutions.
  • Assist with electrical installations, including motor wiring and pneumatic valve setups.
  • Participate in Process Safety Management (PSM), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), and ISO compliance programs.
  • Support continuous improvement and mechanical reliability initiatives.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment, following OSHA, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and working-at-heights safety standards.
  • Serve on the Safety Committee and promote a strong safety culture.
  • Rotate on-call schedule for off-hours maintenance needs.

What We’re Looking For

Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in industrial or chemical manufacturing maintenance preferred.
  • Familiarity with CMMS maintenance systems preferred.
Skills & Abilities
  • strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on maintenance experience.
  • Expertise in liquid handling systems and pumps (positive displacement, centrifugal, air pumps).
  • Basic electrical knowledge, including pneumatic valve and pump installation.
  • Understanding of plant utilities (steam, air, nitrogen, water, hot oil) is a plus.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair industrial equipment using hand and power tools.
  • Forklift certification preferred.
  • Comfortable working at heights, climbing ladders, and lifting up to 60 lbs.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while collaborating with the team.
  • Willing to work overtime and participate in on-call rotations.
salary: $54,080 - $72,800 per year
