Job Description – Technical Senior Accountant

Mission of the Role:

We are looking for a Technical Accounting Senior within Partner Services. The Accounting Senior will be a critical team member and early employee, participating in building a highly scalable, best-in-class finance organization as a key partner with the Apex Group Accounting Team and the regional accounting teams.

The Technical Accounting Senior will be a critical team member within the organization, reporting directly to the Technical Senior Accounting Manager. He / she will have extensive involvement in establishing accounting controls and policies to support the Company as it grows.
The Technical Accounting Senior must have superior organization and communication skills, while maintaining strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. This individual will assist with the month-end close process, calculating certain more complex journal entries and certain account reconciliations for Partner Services, working closely with Technical Senior Accounting Manager to ensure financial reporting accuracy and integrity.
The Technical Accounting Senior will be preparing the acquisition accounting entries in accordance with ASC 805 resulting in their interaction with regional leaders and the Partnership Development function to ensure the opening balance sheet entries are recorded timely and accurately.
This role will also may provide ad hoc support to the broader accounting regional teams and be heavily involved in the standardization of monthly close and reconciliation processes. The Accounting Senior will also be highly involved in the year-end audit process by providing support as requested.

Responsibilities:

Working closely with the Technical Senior Accounting Manager and wider Regional Accounting, Finance and Partnership Development team, the Technical Accounting Senior will play a key role in ensuring accurate and auditable financial statements. Job responsibilities include:

  • Monitor the Monday.com Acquisition Tracker
  • Meet with Partnership Development, Regional Operations and accounting personnel to obtain required financial information to prepare the purchase price accounting entries for each acquisition.
  • Prepare the acquisition accounting calculations and journal entries
  • Prepares and records certain monthly centralized entries relating to the 6 platforms as part of month end close
  • Provides ad hoc regional accounting team support
  • Master the use of Monday.com and FloQast - ensure an accurate and timely month-end and year-end close process, prepare balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis
  • Assist with providing external auditors all requested materials, in conjunction with Technical Accounting Senior Manager
  • Identify opportunities for efficiencies and implement streamlined procedures
  • Execute the individual and team goals that support strategic and operational initiatives
  • Contribute to team culture

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of prior accounting experience (public accounting experience required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Acquisition accounting a plus
  • Proficient computer skills, including the use of MS Office Suite
  • Sound knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Ability to understand and carry out accounting procedures and analysis and prepare work papers
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to communicate accounting and financial information into common language
  • CPA license obtained or eligible required
  • Experience with Sage Intacct and accounting ERP implementations a plus
  • Extreme formatting, organization and priority setting skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail and teamwork
