The Environmental Services Manager (EVS Manager) is responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of the High Line’s EVS team and EVS Supervisor. In addition to maintaining the general hardscape and cleanliness of the High Line, the EVS Manager is an ambassador to the public, contributing to our “all are welcome” spirit.

A successful candidate will combine a passion for public spaces with excellent interpersonal skills, serving as a bridge between the EVS team and the broader organization. A successful candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm for maintaining a clean and aesthetically pleasing park environment.

Act as an advocate for the Environmental Services (EVS) team and their vital role. Collaborate effectively with colleagues to support park cleanliness and beautification efforts. Promote the importance of park maintenance to both internal and external stakeholders

This is a working manager role, requiring daily work outdoors in all weather conditions. Responsibilities include all aspects of monitoring, caring for, and reporting on designated park zones, offices, hardscape elements, restrooms, cleanliness, office spaces and public use of the park.

The EVS Manager is a full-time, year-round exempt employee.

Requirements
  • Manage a staff of full-time and seasonal EVS Techs, performing payroll, scheduling, time off requests, mediation, disciplinary actions, hiring and firing.
  • Ensure daily tasks are completed and hold the EVS Technicians accountable for their zone/work
  • Inspect all park facilities and surrounding property daily, including but not limited to, staircases, park pathways, restrooms, office spaces, etc.
  • Develop and implement SOP’s to ensure that cleaning is standardized amongst all staff, proper chemical usage, workflow and cleaning techniques are used to ensure a World Class Park feel.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in both park and offices
  • Ensure equipment is properly operated and maintained, such as driveable scrubbers, leaf blowers, leaf vacuums, power washers, etc.
  • Work in partnership with different departments, such as special events, production, maintenance, to ensure proper coverage for needed support
  • Assist with all Park events, ensuring events are staffed properly
  • Snow Removal
  • Maintain vendor relations, such as pest control, cleaning supply vendors, etc.
  • Ordering and maintaining proper supply levels, processing invoices, use of company card and AP bill processing
  • Maintain relations with neighboring properties
  • Ensure proper removal of trash and recycling
  • Ensure cleanliness of food commissary areas
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures
  • Ability to interact with Park visitors, giving a high level of customer service
  • Administrative duties
  • Work varying days and times that meets the needs of the Park and organization
  • Actively promote and contribute to the High Lines sustainability initiatives
Qualifications
  • 2-3 years management experience in commercial/luxury cleaning
  • Experience with machinery, such as driveable scrubber, lifts, snow throwers, etc.
  • Flexibility to work long hours, holidays and weekends as needed
  • Strong administrative skills and tech savvy, experience with Google Workspace or Microsoft Office, send/receive emails, use of payroll software, use of invoicing software.
  • Must be a team player, willing to collaborate on any and all projects required for maintaining the highest standards of Park Operations
Preferred Experience
  • Parks/Luxury building cleaning experience
  • Valid Drivers Licence
  • OSHA certified
  • Training in Bloodborne Pathogens
Abilities
  • Be able to perform physical labor on a daily basis in all weather conditions (year-round
  • Traveling the length of the Park (1.4 miles) daily
  • Lift, push and pull 50lbs

This is a full-time, year-round, exempt position.

Actual salaries will vary on various factors, including but not limited to experience and performance. The annual salary range is $65,000-$70,000.

The location for the role remains in-person, with a requirement to physically report to the office (located in Manhattan's Meatpacking District in New York City).
