Code Compliance Officer - Supplemental

A Code Compliance Officer will also assist with conducting investigations and ensuring compliance with the Minimum Housing Code and NC Building Code provisions. This position will report to the Chief Code Enforcement Officer.

• Administers and enforces land use ordinances and nuisance code provisions.
• Responds to nuisance complaints and conducts field inspections.
• Sends violation letters and follows up to ensure compliance.
• Ensures ordinance and code provisions are understood and applied by other staff members.
• Explains policies and procedures to the public.
• Maintains enforcement database; maintains sign database using Excel.
• Performs related duties as required.

**Minimum Qualifications**

Applicants must:

• have a high school diploma (or equivalent)
• possess a valid driver's license

Preference will be given to applicants who have:

• have completed additional education in inspections, zoning, and/or land use ordinances
• experience with code compliance software and/or Excel
• any NC Building Inspections certifications
• current membership in the North Carolina Association of Housing Code Officials

**Additional Information**

This supplemental position will be scheduled to work 19 hours per week. The weekly work schedule will be flexible although the selected candidate may choose to have a set schedule. A monthly work plan will be completed by the 15th of the month.
