NAI/NAII - Extended Care Unit

Overview:

Department will manage and care for patients classified as Outpatient in a Bed (OPIB) requiring continued hospital stay until a safe transition discharge plan is arranged.

Responsibilities:

Position is responsible for supporting medical staff in administering care to patients with various injuries, illnesses or disabilities. Patient care tasks responsibilities to ensure that each patient receives the comprehensive and personalized care they need may include the following:

• Maintaining proper hygiene.
• Grooming and bathing patients with low mobility.
• Preparing each patient room with necessary items like blankets, pillows, medical equipment and bathroom needs.
• Making sure they have regular meals and assist with eating.
• Monitoring vitals and patient behavior and reporting them to the nursing and medical staff
• Assisting patients with mobility and transfer needs.
• Turning or adjusting patients in bed to prevent bedsores or other discomfort.
• Exercising patients by helping them walk.

The following qualifications or equivalents are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this position:

Education/Licensure Required:

• Completion of high school or its equivalent
• Current Nursing Assistant I listing with the North Carolina registry
• Current Nursing Assistant II with the North Carolina Board of Nursing

Certifications Required:

• Department-specific certification requirements must be achieved within the first year of employment.
• BCLS (Obtained within 30 days of hire)
