Job Description

This estimator will:

  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare cost estimates.
  • Develop detailed quantity takeoffs and pricing for materials, labor, and equipment.
  • Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to develop accurate budgets and schedules.
  • Identify potential risks, cost-saving opportunities, and value engineering solutions.
  • Prepare and present bid proposals, ensuring competitiveness and accuracy.
  • Maintain a database of historical cost data for use in future estimates.
  • Stay current with industry trends, material costs, and construction methodologies.
  • Assist in contract negotiations and review of final project budgets.

The Successful Applicant

The Estimator should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in commercial and multi-family projects.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., ProEst, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar).
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Knowledge of construction materials, labor costs, and market trends.
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
