Dental Hygienist I - Oral Health Specialist

Department: Preventive Dental Services Unit

Certifications:

• Unrestricted active Dental Hygienist license issued by the state regulatory board.

Responsibilities:

• Performs professional dental cleanings, including plaque and stain removal, polishing, and fluoride application.
• Administers dental sealants to prevent tooth decay as required.
• Educates patients on effective oral hygiene practices and preventive care techniques.
• Prepares patients for dental procedures and maintains a sterile environment.
• Records patient medical histories and updates electronic dental health records.
• Takes and interprets digital X-rays to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Manages and maintains dental instruments and equipment following ADA and OSHA guidelines.
• Assists in community outreach programs to support oral health awareness.
• Adheres to OSHA infection control standards and universal precautions during procedures.

Pay Range: $48,000–$52,000 annually
