Job Description:

• The Med Surg Registered Nurse (RN) will be responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to a diverse patient population in a medical-surgical setting. The role involves preparing, administering, and recording prescribed medications, as well as performing a range of clinical tasks to ensure patient comfort and care. The RN will work with general medical, surgical, oncology, observation, and hospice patients.

Responsibilities:

• Safely prepare, administer, and document prescribed medications according to established protocols and physician orders. Monitor patient response and report any adverse reactions in a timely manner.
• Perform and document routine nursing procedures such as changing dressings, inserting catheters, and starting IVs. Adjust specialized medical equipment as needed.
• Monitor and assess patients' vital signs, symptoms, and overall condition, and report significant changes to the appropriate medical staff.
• Operate and interpret specialized equipment and instruments to assess and monitor patients, adjusting settings as required.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all nursing care activities, including medication administration, vital signs, treatments, and patient progress.
• Provide compassionate, individualized care to meet the physical, emotional, and psychological needs of patients. Offer comfort measures and education to patients and families regarding their treatment and care plans.

Requirements:

Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years of recent Med Surg experience is required.
• Experience in Med/Surg Observation is required.
• Oncology, observation, hospice, and medical/surgical patient care experience is preferred.
• Recent travel experience is highly preferred.

Licensure/Certifications:

• Michigan RN State License (LARA) and BLS (AHA) certification are required.
