Overview:
The System Controls & Test Engineer is responsible for the setup and integration of complex micromachining work centers. This individual will integrate, test, and optimize motion control systems, PLC components and other electrical and pneumatic sub-systems.The system Controls and Test engineer will also be responsible for the setup and integration of process recipes ensuring customer requirements are met prior to machine delivery.

Responsibilities:
- Support all phases of the systems lifecycle including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal.
- Effectively Test, Setup, Troubleshoot and Repair or Mechanical & Electrical systems, & PLC’s.
- Install and integrate system components such as Lasers, Motion stages, and pneumatic control systems and optical beam delivery.
- Design and develop test fixture/apparatus/equipment, test programs, and debug processes for new and existing products and releases to internal manufacturing or external customers.
- Participate in system design reviews.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (e.g. design, process, application, R&D) to develop verification and validation test requirements for new products.
- Train internal manufacturing or external contract manufacturer technical personnel in the use and support of production test equipment, test programs, and/or debug processes for low to high complexity assemblies, and/or systems.
- Perform failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) and root cause investigation and develop corrective actions.
- Direct the work of Test Technicians to accomplish an assigned objective.
- Develop, perform and document tests, includes test planning, test conduction, data analysis and documenting test results.
- Create technical reports and present test and analysis results.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical field (preferably from ABET-accredited institution).
- Minimum 3 years of experience testing and troubleshooting complex multi-physics systems (preferably production equipment) in a regulated industry.
- Basic experience with C#, C++, Visual Basic, PLC, and/or HMI programming.
- Working knowledge of NFPA79, UL, CE, OHSA standards, etc.
- Experience in using Electrical Test equipment such as multimeters, and oscilloscopes.
- Experience in using the electrical test equipment and developing the test fixture.
- Experience with electro-mechanical, opto-mechanical systems, electrical controls, motion controls, pneumatics, servo motors, actuators, lasers, vision, etc.
- Exposure to mechanical design software, machine controls, vision systems, laser systems, precision motion control, robotics, etc.
- Working proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint, Team, Project.
