This includes conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, and participating in court hearings and depositions. You will have the opportunity to work closely with senior attorneys, gaining valuable hands-on experience in litigation and trial work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage civil litigation cases, including preparing and drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery documents.
- Conduct comprehensive legal research on issues related to civil disputes, including contract law, tort law, and real estate matters.
- Attend court hearings, depositions, mediations, and arbitrations, representing clients in a range of civil litigation proceedings.
- Assist with pre-trial preparation, including developing case strategies, drafting trial briefs, and preparing witness testimony and exhibits.
- Communicate directly with clients to provide updates on case progress and obtain necessary information for case development.
- Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex legal matters, contributing to the overall litigation strategy.
- Maintain organized case files and ensure compliance with all court deadlines and procedural requirements.
- Take on additional legal projects and assignments as needed to support the litigation team.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in California.
- At least 1 year of civil litigation experience, including experience in California civil procedure.
- Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills with experience drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery documents.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to argue motions and represent clients in court hearings and settlement negotiations.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a legal team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience in real estate litigation, commercial disputes, or personal injury cases.
- Previous experience in attending depositions, mediations, and trials.
