A prominent Oakland law firm is seeking a talented Associate Attorney with civil litigation experience to join their growing team. The firm handles a wide range of civil litigation matters, including commercial disputes, real estate litigation, and personal injury cases.
This is a great opportunity for an attorney looking to further develop their litigation skills and work in a collaborative environment with seasoned litigators. As an Associate Attorney, you will be responsible for managing various aspects of civil litigation cases from start to finish.

This includes conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, and participating in court hearings and depositions. You will have the opportunity to work closely with senior attorneys, gaining valuable hands-on experience in litigation and trial work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage civil litigation cases, including preparing and drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery documents.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research on issues related to civil disputes, including contract law, tort law, and real estate matters.
  • Attend court hearings, depositions, mediations, and arbitrations, representing clients in a range of civil litigation proceedings.
  • Assist with pre-trial preparation, including developing case strategies, drafting trial briefs, and preparing witness testimony and exhibits.
  • Communicate directly with clients to provide updates on case progress and obtain necessary information for case development.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex legal matters, contributing to the overall litigation strategy.
  • Maintain organized case files and ensure compliance with all court deadlines and procedural requirements.
  • Take on additional legal projects and assignments as needed to support the litigation team.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in California.
  • At least 1 year of civil litigation experience, including experience in California civil procedure.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills with experience drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery documents.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to argue motions and represent clients in court hearings and settlement negotiations.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a legal team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in real estate litigation, commercial disputes, or personal injury cases.
  • Previous experience in attending depositions, mediations, and trials.
