Position Summary:

Orlando Health is a 3,200-bed system that includes 15 wholly-owned hospitals and emergency departments; rehabilitation services, cancer institutes, heart institutes, imaging and laboratory services, wound care centers, physician offices for adults and pediatrics, skilled nursing facilities, an in-patient behavioral health facility, home healthcare services in partnership with LHC Group, and urgent care centers in partnership with CareSpot Urgent Care.

Nearly 4,200 physicians, representing more than 80 medical specialties and subspecialties have privileges across the Orlando Health system, which employs nearly 22,000 team members. Areas of clinical excellence are orthopedics, heart and vascular, cancer care, neurosciences, surgery, pediatric specialties, neonatology, women’s health and trauma.

Position Summary

The EVS Technician Level lV is responsible for providing a safe care environment for patients, and staff (visitors as appropriate to setting)
within a specialty area (surgical services/peri-operative suite, Cath lab, endoscopy etc.) achieved by demonstrating the principles of
cleaning, disinfection, and quality assurance toward the reduction of harmful pathogens for the benefit of patients, visitors, and staff.
While executing the assigned tasks, the EVS Tech will have contact with patients and perhaps family. Responsible for ensuring timely
room turns related to patient throughput within the basic principles of environmental hygiene and infection prevention. The

environmental services technician, in accordance with organizational standards of quality, is an essential contributor to cleaning, disinfection, infection prevention and patient experience.

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, using appropriate designated engagement techniques.
  • Responsible for cleaning and disinfection of specialty units& equipment. Areas include but are not limited to Surgical Services, Labor Delivery, Critical Care, Angio, Endoscopy, MRI, Trauma, Cath Lab, NICU, Mental Health and Burn Unit.
  • Adhere to all organization safety, risk management and infection control standards while promoting a culture of safety.
  • Accountable for accurately maintaining all appropriate logs and check lists/sheets current.
  • Responsible for cleaning and disinfection of equipment and areas of assignment according to procedures, policies, and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the training and education related to evidence-based recommendations in accordance with the Association for the Health Care Environment (AHE), Association for Professional in Infection Control (APIC) and Association for perioperative Nurses (AORN), CDC, The Joint Commission, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Actively participates in departmental performance improvement initiatives, including but not limited to initiatives to improve patient experience and cleanliness metrics.
  • Maintains supplies and equipment by properly stocking and restocking environmental services cartin a neat and orderly fashion.
  • Removes waste and transport to appropriate disposal area while identifying proper waste streams(i.e.,regulated medical, recycle, solid, and hazardous).
  • Operates UV disinfection machine as needed or according to policy.
  • Follows all environmental and infection prevention practices (i.e., proper cleaning and disinfection protocols and process, hand hygiene,standard& isolation precautions, as well as proper donning and doffing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Recognizes and adheres to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA)
  • Reports unsafe situations and turns in Engineering Service Requests for repair.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Education/Training

High School Diploma or GED preferred

Licensure/Certification
Certified Surgical Cleaning Technician (CSCT) preferred.
Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) preferred.

DOT Certified Department of Transportation required within the 1st 90 Days.
