Legal Secretary
Robert Half is seeking a Legal Secretary for its large law firm client with an office in the East Bay (near BART / hybrid telecommute remotely 2 days/week). The qualifications for the position are the following: 3+ years of experience as a litigation legal secretary; preparation of various pleadings including discovery, law and motion matters, writs, appellate pleadings and briefs; knowledge of e-filing in state and federal court; and adept at providing general administrative support.
This is an established law firm with long-term, happy staff (low turnover) and friendly, flexible management. The annual base salary range is $85,000 – 105,000/yr, DOE, and the employment benefits offered are very generous. 37.5 hour work week. - Hands-on experience with legal correspondence and court filing procedures is a plus
- Proficiency in database management
- Excellent written/verbal communication and organizational skills
- Possessing an understanding of word processing and spreadsheets is desired
- Able to manage time well
- Knowledgeable in local jurisdictional, state court, and federal court rules and procedures
- Earlier work involving evidence summary
- Proficiency in zoning, planning and land use
- Prior experience with typing 45 - 60 words per minute
- Good understanding of Microsoft Word
- Hands-on experience with reviewing documents for spelling and grammar
- Travel arrangements experience
- Exhibit lists experience preferred
- Red lining experience highly valued
- Appellate courts experience preferred
- Comprehension of litigation
- Case management experience preferred
- Proofreading experience desired
- Demonstrated knowledge of scheduling
- Expense reports experience desired
- Experience with Microsoft Excel
- Scanning experience highly preferred
- Background working with pleadings
- Previous experience working with service of process
- General familiarity with e-file
- Knowledge of filing litigation
