Overview:
The primary purpose of the Staff Nurse (Maternal Child) position is to administer total patient care based on individualized needs of assigned patients/families in accordance with professional nursing standards and evidence-based nursing. The Staff Nurse will utilize knowledge and demonstrate competency in Obstetrics, Maternal Fetal Medicine, Gynecology, Infertility, Gynecologic Oncology, Urogynecology, Urodynamics, Reproductive Choice, Pediatrics Lactation Counseling, and other related programs.Expected behaviors include assessment, planning, and implementation of nursing interventions and evaluation of the physical, psychological, and spiritual needs of the patient in pre-procedural, procedural and post-procedural phases of care.
The Staff Nurse demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform procedures in accordance with professional nursing standards in pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients in the Center of Obstetrics/Gynecology and Pediatrics. The Staff Nurse demonstrates the ability to plan and facilitate patient care in achieving optimal patient care goals in compliance with regulatory and departmental standards and demonstrates a working knowledge of University Hospital, TJC & DOHSS regulations.The Staff Nurse participates in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement endeavors, University Hospital continuing education and certifications.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a current license to practice in the State of New Jersey/BSN preferred. Current IV/Venous Access Device Certification required.
- Two years’ experience in Maternal – Child; Obstetrical and Gynecological specialties preferred, having worked in an Ambulatory Care Service/outpatient care setting, preferred. ANA certification preferred. Ambulatory Care Certification preferred.
- Two years’ experience in specialty procedures to include but not limited to: Fetal Monitoring, Non-Stress Testing preferred. Lactation Counseling Certification (CLC) preferred. Be knowledgeable in Managed Care and Healthcare Industry trends.
- Essential requirements also include working predetermined flexible hours.
