Staff Accountant

A client of ours in the manufacturing industry is looking to hire a Staff Accountant.

Responsibilities:

1. Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
2. Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
3. Generate various financial statements and report summaries for management, such as the monthly balance sheet, income statement, and changes in financial position.
4. Summarize financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheet, profit and loss, and other statements.
5. Perform monthly balance sheet, income statement and changes in financial position/budget variance analyses.
6. Support the budget and forecasting activities, which may include budget consolidation, analysis and report generation.
7. Aid in preparing for audits and resolving audit findings.
8. Recommend financial actions by analyzing accounting options.
9. Maintain accounting controls by following policies and procedures and recommending improvements.
10. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by researching existing and new legislation and maintaining up-to-date knowledge.

Required Skills:

1. Strong understanding of GAAP principles and financial reporting.
2. Proficient with accounting software and MS Office, particularly MS Excel.
3. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capability.
4. Excellent communication skills for conveying financial information to non-financial colleagues.
5. Organizational skills to manage and prioritize tasks for timely completion.
6. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Educational Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field. A Master's degree or CPA certification would be a plus.
2. 2-5 years of accounting experience, or a similar combination of education and experience.
