Software Engineer Intern
Overview:
About the Role
Engineering interns at Hinge Health are university students, majoring in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field who work in a highly collaborative cross-functional team for a 3 month summer internship. They participate in agile ceremonies, contribute to Hinge Health’s iOS, Android and Web Apps in different domains, and contribute to the team’s goals.We ensure interns have a supportive manager who they meet with regularly, and the entire team will mentor them in skill development and increase their comfort with the tech stack and workflow.
You’ll have the opportunity to learn one or more areas of our tech stack once you join: JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, GraphQL, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, React Native, Rails, Aptible, AWS, Postgres, Redis, Apollo, and Redux.
What You’ll Accomplish- Every day, you’ll work on code to tackle solvable problems while being fully embedded into our team.
- Every sprint, you’ll work on production ready code; you’ll build, test and deploy complete, meaningful features.
- Every day, you’ll have the opportunity to be immersed within your highly collaborative team and accept mentorship from more senior engineers.
Hinge Health Hybrid Model
We believe that remote work and in-person work have their own advantages and disadvantages, and we want to be able to leverage the best of both worlds. Employees in hybrid roles are required to be in the office 3 days/week. The San Francisco office has a dog-friendly workplace program.
Qualificatons:
Basic Qualifications- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field with an expected graduation date between December 2025 and May 2026
- Demonstrated experience with multiple programming languages (Java, Python, JavaScript) and frameworks, along with knowledge of cloud technologies and distributed systems
- Basic knowledge of databases (SQL and NoSQL) and database management
- Proficiency in front-end technologies including and React.js, JavaScript, HTML/CSS etc
- Experience with backend development using languages such as Node.js , Python, Java etc
- Strong academic performance in Computer Science or related field with coursework in data structures, algorithms, and database concepts
- Previous project experience through hackathons, personal projects, or research; familiarity with development tools like Git, CI/CD pipelines, and debugging tools
- Excellent problem-solving abilities with demonstrated capacity to work in team environments and strong communication skills
