Position Overview:

• As a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) in a Long Term Care (LTC) facility, you will be responsible for providing essential care and assistance to residents who require long-term support due to age, illness, or disability. This role involves supporting the nursing staff in delivering hands-on care and maintaining a compassionate and safe environment for residents.

Responsibilities:

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, toileting, and ambulation.
• Help residents move in and out of beds, wheelchairs, and chairs, using proper lifting techniques and equipment to prevent injury.
• Take and record residents’ vital signs (e.g., temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure) and report any significant changes to the nursing staff.
• Provide personal care, including skin care, oral hygiene, and grooming, ensuring residents maintain good hygiene and comfort.
• Ensure a safe and clean living environment for residents, following all safety protocols and immediately reporting hazards or accidents.
• Offer companionship and emotional support to residents, addressing their social and psychological needs with kindness and empathy.
• Accurately document all care provided, including ADLs, intake/output, and any observed changes in the resident’s condition.
• Work closely with the nursing and interdisciplinary care team to ensure that each resident’s care plan is followed and updated as needed.
• Help residents with feeding if necessary, ensuring dietary needs and preferences are met.
• Ensure residents have access to hygiene and toiletry supplies as needed, restocking items regularly.
• Assist in keeping residents’ living spaces clean and tidy, changing bed linens and ensuring general cleanliness.

Qualifications:

Certification:

• Current and valid certification as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) in the state of Michigan.

Experience:

• Experience in long-term care or similar settings preferred.

Skills:

• Strong interpersonal skills, compassion, patience, and the ability to handle physically demanding tasks, such as lifting and transferring residents.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and move residents, stand and walk for extended periods, and perform physically demanding tasks such as turning and repositioning residents.
