About The Position:
The Vice President of Credit will be responsible for leading and overseeing the performance of the centralized credit team within our auto finance division. This role will ensure that the team meets or exceeds departmental goals while optimizing processes, improving compliance, and leveraging emerging technologies.The VP of Credit will also manage credit risk analysis, prepare credit reports, and maintain strong interdepartmental communication to support the overall success of the company. Additionally, the VP will drive profitability by improving lending decisions and ensuring the department operates efficiently and effectively.
This position is required to work from our Santa Ana office location. **Only considering local candidates**
Key Responsibilities:
- Performance Management: Oversee the centralized credit team’s performance to meet departmental goals, focusing on productivity, quality, and profitability.
- Process Optimization: Identify areas for cost reduction, improvement, and policy changes to enhance efficiency and profitability.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations while assessing credit risk and loan profitability.
- Technology & Efficiency: Implement emerging technologies to streamline processes, increase efficiency, and reduce costs.
- Budget & Profitability: Manage the department’s operating budget and ensure profitability targets are met through effective expense control and financial analysis.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Foster communication and collaboration with other departments to align goals and support business growth.
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead recruitment, training, and retention of staff, focusing on building a high-performing team. Train underwriters to develop inside sales skills to increase business and client engagement.
Qualifications, Education and Experience:
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role within auto finance or a related industry.
- Strong knowledge of credit risk management, financial analysis, profitability optimization, and compliance regulations.
- Experience with process improvement, cost reduction strategies, and leveraging technology to enhance departmental performance.
- Ability to manage budgets, report on financial data, and optimize departmental resources to ensure profitability.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across multiple departments.
- Ability to recruit, mentor, train, and develop high-performing teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in credit management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the auto finance industry.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing credit and lending practices.
Salary Range: $130,000 - $150,000 per year + bonus
