Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking seasoned, proven leader to join the Global Data Center Operations organization.

This organization operates rapidly scaling, high availability, data centers supporting government customers. The Program Manager must bring together multiple functional and technical capabilities to support the planning, build, and operations of AWS data centers in the US.
The Program Manager will be responsible to develop long-term plans and work backwards from strategic objectives to build execution plans. The Program Manager will coordinate across AWS partner teams and interface with the government customer to drive and support new region planning and proposal activities.

The right candidate will understand how to work across organizations to coordinate planning, leverage capabilities, and apply resources to enable data center region builds, launches, and current operations.

This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.

This position can sit in Arlington or Herndon, VA.

Key job responsibilities
  • Engaging business development teams to pursue new business with US government customers
  • Develop and maintain near- and long-term staffing plans, hiring and operations strategies that align with data center build and launch schedules
  • Plan and oversee budgeting of capital expenditures and operating expenses in line with management targets
  • Deliver innovative approaches to meet complex challenges by interacting with business partners (e.g. Finance, Human Resources and Recruiting, Infrastructure Delivery, Security and Supply Chain)
  • Create and maintain metrics and visual dashboards that inform senior leader decision making cycles and provide routine business reviews that convey the health of the program
  • Employ statistical and predictive analysis to produce models to guide near-term decision making and strategic planning

About the team

The ADC Infrastructure Operations Planning Team (IOPT) owns creating, monitoring, and reporting status of ADC Infrastructure Operations region readiness plans in support of global ADC customer needs. We highlight risks where they exist and define recovery plans in partnership with our dependencies to meet customer commitments.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.

- 3+ years of technical infrastructure management experience, experience with varying scenarios of infrastructure builds, and knowledge of best practices and emerging technologies, related to infrastructure (i.e. network, data center, hardware, software)
  • BA/BS degree (Preferably in Engineering, Physics, Economics, Business, or Mathematics, however other degrees are not a disqualifier), or 6+ years of commensurate Program/Project management experience.
  • 5+ years working knowledge of MS Office and MS Project.
  • 5+ years working knowledge of architectural design software (CAD, Bluebeam, or Visio).
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph- Master’s Degree or advanced professional certifications in management of complex, high value technology infrastructure projects
  • Good understanding of data center technologies and experience in managing data center infrastructure deployments
  • Experience with and deep understanding of multiple project management methodologies
  • Well organized and able to work effectively under time pressure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
  • Comfort with ambiguity; ability to be flexible in a rapidly changing environment
  • Proven track record of earning trust, taking ownership, and successfully delivering results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
