Director of Finance/Controller
My client is a well-established, highly prestigious NFP located in NYC. The COO is looking for an exceptional Controller/Director of Finance to join their team. The Controller/Director of Finance will report directly into the COO and be the #1 person in finance and accounting managing a team of 5x.
The COO is looking for a change agent, someone with a track record of going into an organization and evaluating people, processes and technology to make improvements.
The COO comes from a for profit background and is interested in both others like themselves from the for profit who are looking to transition to a wonderful NFP, and/or a current NFP professional.
They are located in NYC and in the office 5 days a week.
As always, these are permanent, full time, fully benefited salaried positions (these are NOT temp, or temp to perm).
Compensation is based on experience:
The Controller is between $150 - $175k base + pension + excellent benefits (they cover about 97% of a family medical plan)
The role will cover:
- Evaluating everything within Finance and accounting
- Make recommendations (and executing) to improve process, technology and enhance the team
- Manage the relationship and presentation to the Board, ED and C-Suite
- Work with non-finance and accounting department heads throughout the organization
- Manage the reporting and budgeting and cash management
- Oversee the accounting team
- Assist when required on the month end close and other accounting functions (this is a hands on role)
- Manage a team of 5x staff
- Open to for profit and non for profit experience
- Strong experience with change mgmt., implementations, process improvements
- Experience with grants is a +
- MBA or CPA is a +
- A minimum of a BA/BS in accounting from a top accredited school
- 10+ years of experience.
Exceptional communications skills are required. A great dynamic personality and the ability to work along your fellow colleagues is crucial. He or she must be able to effectively collaborate with individuals both inside and outside the company.
