This position is located in Quonset Point, RI
The Quonset Point D962 Area Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day tasking of salary and hourly team members on the Tool Crib team to ensure they are conducting themselves in line with departmental standards and performance goals.The successful candidate will work alongside management from Maintenance and Operations to ensure the highest level of service and support is upheld at all times.
Daily responsibilities of an Area Superintendent include, but are not limited to, ensuring everyone is performing as safely as possible, following procedural compliance unwaveringly, empower employees daily by providing coaching and guidance as well as constantly seeking opportunities to improve their team’s skill sets, mentoring and coaching their Operations Supervisors to develop and maintain a culture of self-improvement and empowerment.The D962 Area Superintendent reports to the Manager of Tool Rooms, ECC and Weld Repair, supporting that position with the department’s CSWA Cost and Schedule performance goals.
Additional responsibilities include oversight of the QP Facility Overhead budget as it pertains to Tooling and Consumable Usage, establishing and upkeep of Blanket Purchase Orders, maintaining inventory discipline practices, developing and improving systems to ensure all tooling and consumable needs are covered and appropriate metrics are developed and analyzed to ensure the Tool Rooms are operating at peak performance.
The candidate must interact closely with Operations and support mid-level management daily to ensure everyone’s needs are addressed. The successful candidate must be customer-service oriented and have the ability to build and maintain relationships with their Operations Supervisors, Operations customers, and vendors.The ability to work independently in a fast paced, detail oriented environment is crucial for the candidate’s success.
This position will have the candidate working closely with a fellow Area Superintendent to ensure all teams across three shifts are working towards a common goal and direction.
Off Shift Specific Responsibilities
Aside from the responsibilities outlined above, the Off Shift Area Superintendent will also have oversight over the 2^nd shift and 3^rd Shift Tool Rooms as well as the ECC & Weld Repair teams on those two shifts.
The 2^nd shift position will require good communication between both the 1^st shift Area Superintendent of Tool Rooms as well as the 1^st shift Area Superintendent of ECC & Weld Repair. Being able to receive pass downs for the two different businesses and effectively disseminate the information to the respective supervisors will be crucial in the success of the organizations.
To effectively support both 2^nd and 3^rd shift teams, the Off Shift Area Superintendent will have to be flexible and work both 2^nd and 3^rd shifts at some periodicity. This periodicity will be worked out between the Area Superintendent and the Tool Room & ECC Manager and will be heavily influenced by the success of those respective teams.
Qualifications:
Qualifications & Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED
- 5+ Years Supply Chain related Supervisory or Management experience required
- Candidates must be available to work overtime including emergent situations, extended hours and weekends, and severe weather, when the business need requires it
- 3+ years of experience successfully leading teams of more than 50 people. Examples of experience will be asked for during interview process.
- Candidates must be familiar with Preventative Maintenance practices and programs
- Candidates must have project management experience
- Candidates must be familiar with the following: Pneumatic and Electric Tooling, Inventory Control, procurement systems, business metrics and Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Skills and/or Knowledge:
- 3 years of Tool Crib, ECC/Welding Support or Facilities Maintenance related experience
- Familiar with Vending Machine Platforms
- Familiar with CribMaster software and Stanley Black and Decker Vending solutions
- Proven experience implementing and maintaining Inventory Control programs consisting of 10,000 part numbers or more.
- Proven experience with process and procedure creation and auditing
- Certificate of Competency for Microsoft Office Suite (Excel / Access specifically)
Skills:
- Candidates must have a proven record of progress toward performance goals and process improvement. Examples will be asked for during interview.

- Candidates will be expected to be a self-starter and work with minimal supervision
