Senior Financial Accountant
What you can expect:
Reporting to the Head of Finance, the role will manage one to two FTEs in the team and will be primarily focussed on Mercer Ireland Ltd. within the MMC group of companies in Ireland. The successful applicant will support the wider MMC team and will be responsible for reviewing periodic financial information to ensure that the internal and external reporting requirements are met.Subject to performance this role has clear progression to the Finance Manager role for Mercer Ireland Ltd.

We will rely on you to:
Working as part of the broader finance team, and a commitment to achieving deadlines and goals as set out by management and business leadersProvision of relevant, consistent, and clear management information, assessment of business issues, and advice to support growth, productivity and profit improvement
Lead monthly, quarterly and annual financial accounts preparationLead, review and finalise reporting: US GAAP month end financial reports as well as investigation of and explanations on main drivers of variances
Local GAAP, Monthly, quarterly and annual regulatory returns for the Central Bank (Metrics, FINREP & IFR returns etc)Monthly and Quarterly Risk Committee, Audit Committee and Board reporting
Lead the completion of annual statutory accounts and audit process
Lead the Tax return processes (Corporate, WHT, VAT and other taxes) in conjunction with MMC Tax and external tax providers
Assistance with statutory SLA management and monitoring new transactions where SLAs might need to be put in place
Support the team with any strategic initiatives, Board actions, risk assessments, ICAAP process
Active risk management through ensuring compliance to with all policies, both internal and statutory
Deputise for Head of Finance where required, with appropriate guidance provided
Assist with regulated Client Assets and projects
What you will need to have:
The successful candidate should be diligent and enthusiastic with a proactive and flexible style of working as well as a proven ability to partnerInterpersonal skills to interface regularly with management and to clearly articulate complex issues and solutions
Strong organization and time management skills with ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
Excellent level of MS Excel, knowledge of financial systems such as Oracle
Proven ability to build relationships, influence, and communicate effectively
What will make you stand out:
Degree in finance, accounting, business or economicsProfessional Accounting Qualification with relevant work experience
Sufficient years of experience in Finance/ Accounting including post qualification experience in a financial services environment or relevant audit/ consultancy experience
Strong knowledge of the regulated financial services industry and issues it faces in todays environment
Regulatory reporting, capital planning and monitoring, client asset experience in a Mifid or similar environment will make you stand out
