Under the general direction of the Director, Clinical Pharmacy & Product Strategy, the Resident Pharmacist is responsible for assisting clinical pharmacists with their daily duties within each business team.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the clinical team with the development, maintenance, and administration of clinical pharmacy programs including disease state management, medication therapy management, pain management, drug utilization review, health outcomes, and other programs. This position will require the resident to focus on promoting appropriate medication use, optimizing cost effectiveness of high-cost medication therapies, minimize adverse drug related events, and identify and address potential opioid fraud, waste, and abuse.
  2. Review and analyze medical literature on prescription drugs in support of clinical criteria and policy for drug use. Actively participate in the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Subcommittee, by reviewing current clinical practice guidelines, drug monographs, clinical protocols, and medication management reports.
  3. Participate in management meetings, intra-department, and inter-departmental improvement processes.
  4. Perform clinical prior authorization review and provide drug information and education to providers. Identify and review trending medication against current guidelines and literature.
  5. Provide clinical education to providers on clinically appropriate use of trending medication.
  6. Participate in Formulary Management, pharmacy benefit design, and utilization review.
  7. Review and implementation of formulary management through the IEHP’s pharmacy benefit management team. Assist in the development and maintenance of training materials, processes, and protocols within the formulary team.
  8. Review and implementation of regulation, compliance, and policy reviews.
  9. Assist the financial team on regulatory and compliance guidelines, financial analysis, and budgetary projects.
  10. Design and implement disease state management and quality improvement programs to enhance care.
  11. Develop skill sets in clinical decision making, leadership, analytics, and project management.
  12. Completion of a residency research project and presentation.

Qualifications:

Education & Requirements
  • Completion of Pharm. D. from an accredited institution is required by the start date of residency
  • Possession of an active, unrestricted, and unencumbered Intern Pharmacist license issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy required

  • Excellent written communication and oral presentation skills
  • Effective time management and project management skills
  • Word processing involving computer keyboard and screens
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus

Work Model Location:

This position is on a hybrid work schedule. (Mon & Fri - remote, Tues - Thurs onsite in Rancho Cucamonga, CA)

Pay Range: USD $63,897.60 - USD $83,075.20 /Yr.
