The Role
The Associate Vice President of Technical Accounting will report directly to the Controller and Chief Accounting Officer. This role will be responsible for providing accounting support for transactions, including being a lead representative in the due diligence process, advising on and analyzing deal structures, and partnering with key stakeholders to ensure a thorough understanding of complex transactions.A successful candidate for this role must have proven experience with technical accounting research; strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to summarize complex issues to senior management and other stakeholders; and strong organizational skills with the ability to follow projects through to completion with an emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
- Assist the company's Transactions and Portfolio Growth team in evaluating potential transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, capital commitments, and other investments
- Advise on the structuring of transactions and consult on proposed transactions, including consolidation assessments
- Assist in accounting-related diligence materials, coordinate with external advisors, and review transaction documents
- Perform complex accounting research, most notably under U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations, and prepare or review technical accounting memos to support conclusions
- Lead purchase accounting, including review of internal and third-party valuations
- Collaborate with Corporate Accounting, Financial Reporting, Finance teams, and other stakeholders to ensure transactions are appropriately accounted for and disclosed
- Oversee the monthly Development and Asset Management Committee process
- Prepare presentations or summaries to communicate transaction impacts to stakeholders, including executive leadership
- Prepare and/or review certain disclosures in the Company’s SEC filings
- Work with the Company’s external auditors to provide support on technical accounting conclusions and valuations

Qualifications
Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- 10+ years of experience in accounting and/or public accounting
Experience Preferred:
- Financial due diligence experience
- SEC reporting experience
- Financial ERP / Reporting system knowledge (Hyperion preferred)
