Production Control Specialist - Planning
Overview:
Responsible for assisting with overall functions of the Production Control department. Job specific functional responsibilities include PC planning, Bill-of-Material creation/system management, and ECI/ECN implementation and coordination (change point management).
Responsibilities:
- Align with parent companies program launch, production engineering, design and document control groups to capture relevant program information that support all program Engineering Change Instruction (ECI) or Engineering Change Notification (ECN) implementations.
- Creation of project specific master schedules for internal use and achievement of all milestone implementation dates (GANT Charts, Excel, etc.)
- Creation and management of pre-production schedules to ensure on-time delivery of prototype or pre-production parts.
- Creation/update of system-based Bill-of-Materials
- Daily use of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and Manufacturing Execution System (MES) platforms that support internal/external supplier parts management including parts ordering activities.
- Conduct periodic status update meetings with internal stakeholders to ensure the achievement of project/program milestones and deliverables (Obeya/Kobeya level meetings)
- Creation and management of project open issue list(s).
- Participate in daily/weekly department staff meetings by presenting status reports on project related activities.
- Identification and escalation of project risks that might jeopardize achievement of project milestones.
- Any other PC support-based activities (as assigned).
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field required; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Experience:
- Greater than 4 years of Production Control experience in a manufacturing facility required. Automotive environment preferred. Tier 1 experience a plus.
- Production Control change-point management or program launch experience specifically for new programs, with minor model changeovers or running change-based activities.
- Experienced in working with MRP, MES and parts ordering system and applications.
- Experience with Toyota or Mazda launch systems and requirements preferred.
- Previous exposure to a multicultural office environment preferred.
Personal/Technical Skills:
- Basic math ability required (i.e., addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Understanding of conceptual math (i.e., basic geometry, charts and graphs) required.
- Thorough understanding and working knowledge of automotive manufacturing plants and processes, company products/commodities, trade terminology, quality management and control systems and techniques, manufacturing processes, tooling and equipment, and machine operation.
- Ability to read, interpret, and understand engineering documents such as automotive drawings (component, assembly, and equipment), technical standards, design specifications, general tolerances, critical characteristics, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), Engineering Change Instructions (ECI/ECN), Prototype Parts Requests (PPR), and color instructions.
- General understanding of Toyota Production System (TPS) is preferred.

Language Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English (Japanese or Spanish language skills a plus)
Computer/Software:
- Solid working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office and other computer-based applications (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, etc.).
- Solid working knowledge of MRP (Oracle, SAP, etc.), Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Parts Ordering Platforms
Work Environment/Conditions:
Office: Open Office Environment, moderate noise level.
Plant: Standard automotive plant environment with moderate noise level. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, hearing protection, etc. may be required in engineering, manufacturing, or industrial areas. Expected to wear company gear. Personal attire standards may apply.
Travel: Must be willing to travel up to 10% of the time

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to talk, see, and hear. The team member must be capable of walking, sitting, and standing and will be expected to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
