Sr. Design Manager – Pharmaceutical Manufacturing
As Design Manager you will manage, coordinate and collaborate the activities of a multidiscipline design department. The candidate will provide technical expertise while overseeing the resources for complete integrated design. You will be responsible for providing strategic thought leadership, building relationships, leading teams and supporting project development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead architecture/engineering teams by providing design and technical input
- Lead multidiscipline projects and coordinating with design, engineering, and construction management teams
- Manage resources and productivity/quality of local multidiscipline teams
- Interact with clients, consultants, vendors, and contractors to coordinate project requirements and design intent and support business development activities
- Perform technical and quality reviews
- Collaborate closely with multiple business units to create integrated service offerings and ensure alignment with client needs.
- Work with clients to understand their project requirements and translate them into actionable plans, providing strategic consultation as needed.
- Communicate with Project Managers and Principals on project progress, issues, recommendations, and action plans
- Willingness to travel throughout the Southeast region to assist with business develop and pursuit activities, participate in presentations to cultivate new and ongoing business endeavors
- Participate in professional or community organizations
- Mentor and inspire younger and less experienced staff
- Work collaboratively and positively in a team environment
- Expertise in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industries: A deep understanding of the regulatory environment and client needs in these sectors.
- Strong strategic planning skills with experience in execution and hands-on leadership.
- Excellent collaboration skills: Able to work across different architectural and engineering groups to create cohesive team delivering quality design projects.
- Proven ability to deliver high quality design projects, within life science, industrial and manufacturing market sectors.
- Ability to maintain client relationships throughout the Southeast U.S. region and potential national corporate locations.
- A demonstrated ability to drive business growth through managing and developing a multidiscipline staff.
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Must possess in-depth knowledge of AEC project development and delivery
- - Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or a related field.
- 15+ years of experience within the Life Science industry is highly desired including experience with Laboratories, clinical or commercial manufacturing facilities
- A track-record of successfully delivering complex projects, developing and cultivating client relationships, and building strategic partnerships.
- Required to be a Registered Architect or Licensed Professional Engineer
- Knowledge of GMP and industry standard requirements
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Suite or Bluebeam Revu.
- Working knowledge of building materials and building codes or standards is required, including current International Building Codes, NFPA, ADA, and LEED.
- Ideal candidate must be dynamic, creative, and detail oriented with strong design and graphic skills.
- Experience working within the Southeast U.S. market is highly desirable, exposure to clients with a national footprint is a plus
