Join UChicago Medicine, as a Transplant Services Specialist in our Transplant Department. The Transplant Institute provides exceptional, life-saving care to outpatients and incredible career opportunities for providers and team members. As a Transplant Services Specialist, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, families, visitors, and staff to coordinate services with the Office of Patient Relations.

In this role, the Transplant Service Specialist is responsible for providing administrative services, data analysis, and customer service to facilitate efficient and effective access to the hospital’s patient feedback process. This position will guide patients and staff through the feedback process and works with the Office of Patient Relations team to ensure a customer-friendly experience and compliance with The University of Chicago Medicine patient complaint policy.

Essential Job Functions
  • Serves as the initial contact for patients, their representatives, and staff
  • Effectively communicates with all parties to capture details of the feedback while demonstrating sensitivity, compassion, and caring.
  • Documents feedback in the EPIC database and assign cases to the designated transplant teams for follow-up.
  • Monitors department voicemail, written mail, faxes, and email for feedback.
  • Follows up as necessary and enters into the database for processing.
  • Maintains confidentiality in addressing sensitive patient issues.
  • Performs other duties assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2 years in patient advocacy and or customer service experience
  • Experience working with various Microsoft based computer software programs for Excel and Word required
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills are required
  • Ability to solve problems independently, performs multiple tasks simultaneously, exercise good judgment, and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability and willingness to cooperate with co-workers, and other hospital staff to serve the needs of patients.
  • Ability to learn and incorporate new systems and processes.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills requiring tact, discretion, and maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Ability to attend mandatory training classes offered by the Medical Center after hours or on weekends, with advance notice.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-year experience in a hospital or medical setting preferred.
  • EPIC experience preferred
  • Ability to serve as an administrator of a web-based database preferred
