JOB OPENING
Title: Program CoordinatorDescription:
Our Place Waldorf (OPW) Soup Kitchen is searching for an energetic, compassionate, and dedicated individual to serve as overseer for our weekly dinner services occurring on Thursday evenings at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 305 Smallwood Drive Waldorf, MD 20602.
The Program Coordinator is responsible for managing all Soup Kitchen operations to include: Maintaining the volunteer tracking database, meal planning, shopping for supplies, organizing and tracking inventory, managing volunteers during meal preparation, closing the kitchen after meals, and preparing meals when a meal sponsor is not available (cooking skills highly preferred).Availability:
The Program Coordinator must be available Thursdays from 3 pm to 7 pm. Additional hours will be permitted, when necessary, for the sole purpose of shopping for OPW Soup Kitchen.
Additional Duties:
- Contact scheduled volunteers at least one week prior to their scheduled time.
- Wear OPW shirt to identify yourself as the OPW Program Coordinator.
- Foster a welcoming, productive, and safe environment for volunteers and guests.
- Enforce Good Shepherd United Methodist Church / COVID-19 protocols.
- Coordinate set-up, meal execution, and clean-up; assist volunteers as needed.
- Ensure meals are packaged for delivery to guests that cannot pick up a meal.
- Create a volunteer list during meals; provide meal photos to the Executive Director.
- Ensure proper usage of equipment; ensure kitchen is clean prior to departure.
- Maintain food pantry as well as refrigerated goods.
- Submit all receipts to treasurer or Director within one week of making purchases.
- Maintain effective communication with the Executive Director.
Experience:
- One year of Management experience highly preferred.
- One year of food service or volunteer experience highly preferred.
- Strong customer service skills, and a friendly, caring attitude highly preferred.
- Must be punctual and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must have own transportation.
