Controller

We are looking to onboard a Controller in Reston, Virginia, in the detail-oriented services industry. The Controller will be entrusted with overseeing daily accounting operations, ensuring compliance with GAAP regulations, and providing strategic leadership in all financial matters.

• Manage day-to-day accounting operations effectively
• Maintain timely and precise preparation of financial statements
• Ensure strict adherence to GAAP accounting regulations, laws, and tax guidelines
• Collaborate with external auditors for smooth facilitation of audits and prompt resolution of any audit findings
• Prepare comprehensive accounting reports, including balance sheets and cash flow statements, to provide insights to the leadership team
• Conduct detailed accounting analysis and variance reports to identify trends, issues, and areas for improvement
• Oversee cash flow and liquidity management to meet operational needs
• Supervise accounting staff, providing guidance and training on accounting practices and procedures
• Establish and reinforce accounting policies and best practices to ensure uniformity and accuracy across the organization
• Ensure timely and accurate submission of corporate tax returns and stay updated on changes to applicable laws and accounting standards
• Recommend improvements in accounting processes, systems, and reporting mechanisms for increased efficiency
• Oversee the selection, implementation, and maintenance of accounting systems and software
• Advise the leadership on all accounting processes and procedures, and collaborate to develop strategies that support business objectives
• Review budget reports and assist executive directors in preparing annual budgets
• Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to develop and refine budget plans
• Prepare and maintain accounting forecasts to assess performance against the budget and make necessary adjustments.
• Significant experience with 3M
• Proficient in using Accounting Software Systems
• Familiarity with ADP - Financial Services
• Strong competency in Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
• Experience with Crystal Reports
• Thorough understanding of Accounting Functions
• Knowledge of Accounts Payable (AP) processes
• Proficient in handling Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Experience in Auditing
• Solid understanding of Budget Processes
