Associate Financial Aid Counselor - Loans

Job Summary
  • Assist in the preparation and revision of financial aid awards, and provide financial aid counseling for students and their families. Aids in loan processing, counseling and loan program management services.
Responsibilities
  • 1.Loan Processing, Certification & Student Counseling Support – 40%
  • Processes and transmits federal and private loan certifications.
  • Assists with providing counseling services for students and families with questions related to parent and student loans.
  1. Prepares financial aid offers and revisions, counsel’s students and parents regarding financial aid matters - 30%
  2. Financial Aid Guest Reception & Appointment Coordination - 15%
  • Assist the financial aid guest reception processes, which includes incoming phone calls, voice mails, email accounts and office visits.
  • Schedules appointments, when appropriate.
  1. Assists with verification of financial aid records - 10%
  2. Stays current on financial aid regulatory requirements – 5%
Required Skills
  • - Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in written form to both individuals and groups.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Detailed-oriented, but able to see the whole picture and apply regulations to individual situations.
  • Proven ability to work independently, and manage time, and work with confidential information.
  • Able to communicate effectively in a professional and confidential manner with students and staff.

Experience:

At least 1 year of work experience.

Education:

Associate’s Degree.

  • Travel: This position requires no travel.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as desktop and/or laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.

Expected Hours of Work:

Typically, days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, with the expectation to work specific schedules and hours as identified and communicated by management. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. This is a 40 hour per week, 12 months per year position.
