Responsibilities:
Experienced General Theater Carpenter, Mechanic or Technician level, for 1^st shift. Excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join a stable and reputable union manufacturing company of scenic elements for Stage, Themed Entertainment Film and TV.
Scenic Carpenters craft and assemble sets for theater, television, themed entertainment and film productions. Responsibilities include interpreting blueprints, constructing scenery, and maintaining tools and equipment. Expertise in woodworking and set design is essential.
- Construct and install scenery and stage elements for live productions, events, themed entertainment and exhibits
- Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
- Select materials and tools needed for each project as specified in the drawing set and Team Lead
- Closely collaborate with scenic designers and engineers and other crew members to achieve desired results
- Ensure all scenic elements are built safely and meet industry standards
- Maintain and repair scenery and stage elements as needed
- Adhere to production timelines and stay within budget constraints
- Stay up to date with industry trends and techniques in scenic carpentry
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a scenic carpenter or similar role
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
- Experience working in a shop environment
- Working ability to Mig and Tig weld
- Proficiency in using a variety of woodworking tools and equipment
- Physical dexterity and strength to handle heavy materials and work in challenging environments
- Attention to detail and precision in measuring, cutting, and assembling materials
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to come up with creative solutions to design challenges
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with other members of the production team
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet production deadlines.
- Periodic opportunities to work on location
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 a plus
- Forklift and arial lift certification a plus
WORK SCHEDULE: 1st Shift hours operate between 8a.m to 4:30p.m. Overtime and Saturdays as required. NOTE: the shop is a union labor force and membership is required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or GED; College or Trade School degree or technical theater degree a plus.WORK ENVIRONMENT: Manufacturing shop floor and On-site as required.
UNION MEMBERSHIP (Local 311) required within 90 days of hire date.
Pay rate is dictated by the collective bargaining agreement. Union title and rate of pay will be determined based upon skill set and experience level. Hourly range is based upon the required minimums outlined by the CBA: $23.89-33.26/hour.
