Electrical CAD Operator - Solar

Overview:

Kimley-Horn is looking for an Electrical CAD Operator to join our Electrical/Renewable Energy team in Orange, CA!

Responsibilities:

• This individual will primarily be responsible for: designing and producing sets of plans for electrical systems including solar, battery storage, electric vehical charging and building electrical
• Participate on project teams in an active production role
• Participate in project meetings internally and externally with clients
• Preparation of project specifications
• Preparation of electrical construction cost estimates
• Daily interaction and collaboration on cross-functional teams across multiple disciplines
• Coordination and verification of as-built drawings
• Perform quality work that promotes client retention
• Responsible for the development of reports and design documents, including solar photovoltaic electrical site plans, equipment selection, photovoltaic module string sizing calculations, ampacity calculations and wire sizing

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (Associates degree preferred)
• 3+ years of design experience in Electrical Engineering specifically in any of the following: Solar PV design, Battery Energy Storage, or Energy Modeling
• Advanced knowledge and proficiency in AutoCAD
• Understanding of the National Electrical Code, other NFPA codes/standards, energy codes
• Previous experience with solar production modeling is a plus
• Previous experience with electrical solar photovoltaic design or battery storage is a plus
• Passion for renewables
• Building Information Modeling (BIM – Autodesk Revit) experience is a plus
• Electrical power, lighting, and fire alarm design experience
• Superior verbal and written communication skills
• The ability to work independently or in a team environment effectively

• Detail oriented, professional attitude, good communication, team player, self-starter
• Strong work ethic, interpersonal communication/writing skills and desire to learn
• Ability to work independently and with a team

Salary Range:

$65,000 - $85,000
